Write an episode of the story!

Dear friends of George!

Up for a little creativity to see out 2020 and welcome in the new year? The Story of George, initially conceived as an antidote to the spring Covid lockdown has continued to blossom. And here’s another George-inspired opportunity for you, dear readers, to have a little creative fun.

Write an episode of the story!

You have some time to write and can do it at home. You can submit your texts until January 5th, 2021. The best submissions will be read at a French cultural event called the “Night of Reading” at the end of January 2021.

After 16 episodes, readers will have discovered that the narrator of the story, Carbon Crow, is not human but a bird, a Magpie! He’s from a small town in France called Parthenay, which is very different from Trivandrum! You’ll find images of Parthenay on the link. But while Carbon Crow likes to talk about himself, he has remained tightlipped about his coming to Trivandrum and why he settled in the zoo.

So, it is for you to decide!

Claire le Michel invites you to imagine an episode telling the story of Carbon Crow’s arrival in Trivandrum, his exploration of the city, of the zoo… Which animals is he drawn to? What does he think of cages? Does he meet George? Does he interact with the local street crows?

In your opinion, what surprises him most on arriving in the capital of Kerala?

For you to imagine and to write! A writing game to do alone or in a group.

And do you know what? At the other end of the world, French readers are writing too!

They are wondering where Carbon Crow has gone. To India, by chance? And how was his trip…?

The submitted text should not exceed 2200 characters including spaces. You can submit texts in English or in French to culture.trivandrum@afindia.org

For the students of AF Trivandrum and for every  student of French, here is a list of French words to put into your text if you’d like to. And you can, of course, add any other French words you wish.

Mots français : une pie / bavarder / une conversation / atterrir / un tigre / une cage / des corbeaux / sauvage / solitaire / la famille / observer / un poulet / habiter / la nature
